We’ve made a lot of aprons, and this one is by far our favorite.

There’s something about the width of the top and the placement of the ties that makes this apron feel extra secure when you wear it, instead of slipping and shifting around the way a lot of soft linen aprons do.

It works beautifully in just about every print, but our favorite is the Rabbits. We used twill tape for the straps, which worked especially well because the natural cotton tape that picked up the warm off-white background of the Rabbits.
You can mix and match your fabric with different tapes, or make your own straps from sailcloth or even ribbon.

The sailcloth is also a lovely weight for protecting your clothes while you’re cooking, painting, or doing whatever else tends to get messy. And because it’s sailcloth, it won’t look like a wrinkled mess when you pull it out of the dryer.

This is a great project for beginners and a really fun one to make with your grown up kids prior to the holidays. Tip: these look extra gorgeous handing together in mixed prints!
